Advantages and Disadvantages of Leather Living Room Furniture
Leather living room furniture is something most everyone wants to have in their homes, but some choose other fabrics for a variety of reasons. One of the major reasons some people stay away from leather living room furniture is because of its ability to retain the temperature of the room. For example, if your room is cool, your furniture will be cool. That isn’t usually a problem unless your heater or air conditioner quits working, and you are left with no way to stabilize the temperature in the room until a service technician arrives to correct the problem. Of course, you can place a blanket or afghan on your furniture so that the heat or cold will not affect the furniture or those who sit on it.
If you have pets, it may not be a good idea to invest in leather living room furniture. Although you declaw cats, if you have a dog, it’s more difficult. If you are one of those people who has trained your dog not to get on the furniture, the problem is solved. Unfortunately it’s more difficult to train cats not to get on furniture as is the case of very small dogs as well. This usually comes down to proper grooming because if your pet’s nails remain clipped, there is little chance of causing damage to the leather living room furniture by only getting on the furniture to lie down or seek a way to look out the window.
As long as you are able to overcome the disadvantages of leather living room furniture by making compromises, you will enjoy the look and feel of it. One of the best things about leather living room furniture is the ease of cleaning. Instead of having to use upholstery cleaner as you do with fabric, spray leather cleaner or even a damp cloth is all you need to clean your leather living room furniture. Some people even take furniture polish and spray it on a cloth to wipe their leather furniture. With the beautiful leather look and ease of cleaning, the minor disadvantages are of little importance.
